This Brotha Done Seen It All...
No Really...
(From Yahoo.com)
George Francis, the nation's oldest man, who lived through both world wars, man's first walk on the moon and the election of the first black president, has died. He was 112.
Francis died Saturday of congestive heart failure at a nursing home in Sacramento, his son, Anthony Francis, said Sunday.
"He lived four years in the 19th century, 100 years in the 20th century, and 8 years in the 21st century. We call him the man of three centuries," said the younger Francis, 81.

Look what I found while diggin @ Amoeba (the third time I've been there in 4 days)? While I was not born yet when these records where first released (I was born in late in the 80s, 1988), I know these records through my parents, old MTV/VH1 Specials, and old school radio. This shit is not only dope, but comedy as well (check Phonte's outro on the cover of the Ah-Ha classic "Take On Me," LOL!!!).
If you didn't know already, Zo! is a BEAST on the production board. As I told Tay myself when Key and I interviewed him and Nicolay for Leave It All Behind, the chemistry between him and Zo! just clicks and equals fresh music. If you are lucky enough to find a copy of this... DON'T SLEEP!!! For one, because it's dope, and two, because it's a collector's item. A must for all you LB/Foreign Exchange fans.

President Bush Gets The Boot (Not 1 But 2)
Sunday morning, my father was blowing up my phone asking me if I have seen this yet. This is shit... hands down... the funniest shit I've seen all year. Regardless of your political affiliation, you have to find this shit comedy. But seriously, as close as that man was, and knowing the consequences that will follow after this act (and we all know Secret Service is STILL whoopin his ass as we speak), you couldn't tell me he couldn't hit Bush with one shoe!?!?!? (Going for the bullpen). As a matter of fact, I heard, low key, that the Dodgers and Yankees are now in a biding war for this guy now.
But who knew Bush was that quick? This further makes me wonder if this dude is low key, Agent Smith or something, lol!!! Something interesting I found out is the reason why ol boy threw a shoe of all things..., is because in Iraq, one of the most disrespectful things a person can do is show the bottom of their feet, especially when walking into a Mosque. Real talk tho, don't be surprised if you find that shoe on E-Bay in next couple weeks.

The Hustle Pays Off For The Cons
Congrats to Consequence!!! After almost a year and half of indie hustle and bustle (although he was "signed" to Sony), he earns a new contract with Universal Motown. Read below for the details on his follow up to Don't Quit Your Day Job and all his future plans...
(From Itsthecons.com)
I am pleased to announce that when I returned from The Glow In The Dark Tour in Australia I signed my deal to have my NEW LP"You Win Some,You Lose Some" released on Universal Motown. In conjuction with of course G.O.O.D. Music and my new upstart company Band Camp Records which is headed by myself & Rik Cordero we're about to "Get Shit Shaking Fam!!!"
It has been almost 2 years since "DayJob" dropped. I remember the struggles and adversity I was faced with when attempting to get a release date from Sony. I just have to say 2 things. Thank Allah and it was worth it!!! I have to shout everyone who has been supporting my movement [...]
We at G.O.O.D. Music are so excited about 2009. You have my LP, Kid Cudi's Debut, Big Sean's Debut LP, Mr. Hudson NEW LP as well as mainstays such as Common, John, Tony Williams,GL & Really Doe. Don C,Plain Pat,Ibn & myself having been constantly brainstorming on how to make maximum impact for the coming year. Look forward to much more of a forceful G.O.O.D. Music presence in market place starting in January.
Kanye & I are going in the lab this weekend to start recording "You Win Some,You Lose Some". I already have a few joints that I did with my cousin so please understand this is going to be CRAZY!!! I can't wait to play y'all this ALBUM. I can't wait to service THE RIGHT 1st SINGLE TO RADIO!!! The GRIND will continue, I have a video for "Q.U.E. Another E.N.S" ,"Mr. Popularity" & the lead single off Rik Cordero's NEW Feature Film "Inside A Change" in which I have a starring role.

I actually played this on H.F.P Radio this past Tuesday (The podcast are coming... seriously). This is off producers Keelay And Zaire's (Reppin the West Coast, Bay Area!!!) new LP dropping Feburary 21, 2009, entitled Ridin' High. If I Ever Feel Better
My roommate has been playing this song on repeat for the past 2 weeks and just last night (after having a confusing Thursday night and a very good Friday night), this song finally clicked. It's been on repeat for the past 24 hours. Shit, it's playing right now, lol!!! The band is named Phoenix, it's off their 2000 debut, United.
Turns out, one of the founders of this band, Laurent Brancowitz, was in a band with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, right before they founded the group we now know and love today as Daft Punk.
As I was Youtube, I found out they too performed @ Coachella 2006. This is possibly the 3rd or 4th artist that was at that event that I did know was at the event, that I later became a fan of.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Club: Vol Looney Tunes (Pt. 1)
Something I though about doing here is every Saturday (since Saturday morning cartoons absolutely suck now,) is post some of my favorite cartoons with some of there favorite episodes. So to start things off, lets go with a little bit of Looney Tunes:
Bugsy and Mugsy:
"I dont know how yuz dun it but I KNOW YUZ DUN IT!!!!!" LFMAO!!! My sister would repeat that line a million times to each other. There is another Bugs Vs. Bugsy And Mugsy episode that I love that I gotta find to put up here.
Duck Rogers in the 24th and a Half Century:
Unlike many, I find myself more of a Daffy Duck fan than Bugs Bunny. You can't tell me Daffy is not Black!!! LOL!!!
And while were on the subject of Daffy... (Tyler this is for you...)
Wile E. Coyote vs Road Runner:
There are so many Wile E. Coyote Vs. Road Runnner cartoon I didnt know which one to pick. So I picked the fourth one I clicked on. Same as Daffy, you couldn't tell me that Wile was not Black. That nigga's sneaky as hell, lol!!! As a matter of fact, put Taz in their too. That nigga just wrecks shit, lol!!!!
Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer Fudd- Rabbit Season, Duck Season:
And of course, THE all time classic.
That's all for this Saturday. Make to bring with you a bowl of your favorite cereal next time.

Tribin With Letterman
Here is Tip performing "Move" live on Letterman last night. Man.... "Move" sounds soooooooooooooooooo illll with a backing live band. Currently for me, The Renaissance has been in constant repeat mode (I just bought the album last night).
What I quickly wanted to touch upon was this was not the first time the Abstract has performed on the legendary CBS show. As a matter of fact, Letterman has been a big supporter of Tip and Tribe.
Exhibit A: Stressed Out (From Beats, Rhymes, and Life, 1996)
Exhibit B (and my favorite): Check The Rhime With The Paul Shaeffer and Late Show Band (From The Low End Theory, 1991)
There are more, I just can't find them on Youtube right now, lol!!!

The Far Left
Everything I have heard so far off The Layover EP has banged. That shit is going to be REALLL serious, this joint further confirms my hypothesis, featuring Fashawn and The Alchemist (who is also on the beat). Music trivial, can anybody name what videos inspired the concept of this video?

Exhibit A (Transformations)
I have heard a lot about Jay Electronica, but I have just not taken the time to listen to his music (aside from the beat he did for Nas' Untitled, which was for "Queens Get The Money". This joint though has me open to more of his work. Produced by Just Blaze, this record is for Guitar Center's Fresh Cuts Vol. 3 (Music By Guitar Center Employees) compilation. Musically, this feel like some Dr. Dre shit with an east-coast twist.

I See Me
Download Link
Hey Ya'll,
This joint right here... and I maybe speaking for Key as well on this, is one my favorite records I have ever been a part of; now and most likely for the rest of my life. Although there have been a many of song that have come out of the Hip-Hop community within the past year that have been in support of Barack Obama, none of them have really expressed how much the election means to people. Not just from a current standpoint (economics, the war, “enter any issue that been a part of the election here”, etc), but from a history context.
This election is the breaking of many a cycle. This election has change perceptions, and in some cases, displayed how some of those perceptions have not changed. It has showed that we, as a society, have a long way to go, and a lot of work in front of us. But on a positive note, it displayed the uniting of peoples from different backgrounds in an effort for one common goal.
The grassroots genus which was Obama’s campaign was something I had never seen before in my lifetime. Everywhere, and I mean everywhere, within the past year, I have seen incredible displays of support for Obama by the public: T-Shirts, bumper stickers, through various forms of art, public access media, and more so, and MORE IMPORANTLY, support in the sense that people have signed up to vote! That right there, is a victory in itself.
It has been said that “If you don’t take part in a democracy, then it will take you apart.” It seems as if the general public has learned from the travesties of the past eight years and decided to say something about it. Voting, in this scenario, is THE ULTIMATE form vocal expression; and never should be taken for granted. If you have some type of power to better your surrounding world… don’t think about it, use it.
This is the reason why I think people follow Obama, he empowers other people. People feel compelled to actually take control of their lives and make great things happen. And when you have the power to compel your fellow man or woman, you have, without question, earned the title of a leader. When a crowd follows an individual, they usually see something of themselves within that person. It can be a characteristic they possess or want to possess. Thus is the underlining topic of this song.
There is very interesting incident that birth the creation of this song, but I’ll wait until I write the liner notes for The B.L.A.C.K Odyssey to explain that one. If you want to hear the story now, just ask next time you see me.
“I See Me” features a good friend of my mine that attends LMU with Key and I named Chad Johnson (who sings the chorus and supplies background vocals) and Kerwin Tsang of Dorm 25 on bass (if you know the history of The Flow, you already know of Mr. Tsang and The Impeccable Dorm 25). If you were in attendance at the Hip-Hop The Vote show at LMU about 3 weeks ago, you heard Key and I close our set with this song.
Please past this link along to all of your peoples and feel free to give feed back on not just the song, but also what you think about this election itself. Peace and love to all of you, I hope you enjoy the song, AND DON’T FORGET TO EXERCISE YOUR POWER ON TUESDAY!!! VOTE!!!!!

More than any other Common album I have anticipated, I am anticipating this the highest. Why? Because I wondering where is Com going to take it. This album is going to be different the Common we are use to listening to (The "Conscience" Rapper label Common has received over the years. The first two singles ("UMC" and "Announcement") were pretty dope and have received the same response from people when I played it for them... "That's Common?!?!?!?"
But honestly, I'm glad I can FINALLY spin some Common in the club ("Go!" is the biggest strench I think. Maybe "The Light" if the party's vibe is layed back.) But I have not doubts this shit will be a banger from front to back.

because for the rest of his career, Kanye will never again do something "conventional." Why? Because he has earn that right. Millions of records later, why not take it somewhere else? You have the ears of the world, so why not "do some out of this world, is this nigga crazy?" type shit. Yeah, real shit, I had the "WTF" look on my face when I first heard this. Many Moons
True Story. About 3 weeks, at the end of my first radio show for KLMU (more details and podcasts coming very soon!!!!!), I needed to play another song to take up 10 minutes before the next person entered the studio. I found this CD in the new adds section, and randomly picked this song. Good pick huh? I have heard of Janelle Monae before from other people and the vocals she put down on various Outkast songs, but after hearing this in the KLMU studio that day, I became a believer... THIS SISTA IS BAD!!!!! This is off her debut EP Metropolis: The Chase Suite, in stores now!!!!

I Really Believed That We Would Get Detox first...
(1987 Circa the O.G line-up)
Looks like I was wrong....
(From MSNBC.COM)
NEW YORK - More than a decade after its conception, Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy” will finally see the light of day before year’s end, sources close to the situation told Billboard.
The set will be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, Nov. 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.
In the run-up to release date, album track “Shackler’s Revenge” will debut in the video game “Rock Band 2,” while a portion of “If the World” is playing over the end credits in the new Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film “Body of Lies.”
In addition, GNR’s seminal 1987 full-length debut, “Appetite for Destruction,” will be reissued on vinyl on October 28 via Interscope.
The band’s last new studio albums were the simultaneously released “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusion II” in September 1991. A covers set, “The Spaghetti Incident?,” followed in 1993, and featured some of the last GNR recordings from original guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.
This spring, soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the beverage to “everyone in America” (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if “Chinese Democracy” were to arrive anytime during the calendar year 2008. A Dr Pepper spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
And on honestly, I still can't believe I'm reading this. PS... I WANT MY Dr. Pepper!!! lol!!!

Luda And 9th Part 2
Let me get this straight.... Luda, 9th, Com, AND SPIKE LEE on the same track!?!?!?!? Woooooooowwwwwwww!!!! And word is Luda also got Preemo to do a joint. This album, from things I have heard so, is going to be serious. And I agree with Luda, this joint sound like something that can end the album proper.

Buckshot Takes It Back To Summer Of '96
You may have heard last week that Buckshot was hospitalized upon returning from Tour in Europe. Well since he has been released from the hospital and from the looks of this video, he's in good spirts. I would have never imagined this song and Buck even co-existing on the same screen, LMFAO!!! This is classic.

Oh... MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!!
This past week, Q-Tip (with Consequence in toe) tore down The Knitting Factory in New York for a free show put on by Okayplayer. See this reminding me of that Tribe show I saw two years, in that Tip knows how to fuckin put on a show. And just... just peep the ending man. No... I'm serious, watch what the fuck the happens at 6:49. That club went ape shit. You couldn't even hear the beat anymore, lol!!! I can not WAIT for The Renaissance to drop.
Oh and this shit funny, Busta and Spiff performing Busta's new single "Arab Money." While I don't really care for the song that much (maybe I'll give it sometime), I understand Busta's thought process behind the song (Being rich vs. Being Wealthy), and that dance for the joint is comedy.

Black Milk, after putting in work for the last year behind the boards for Pharoahe Monch, Guilty Simpson, Elzhi, and many others, returns with is sophomore LP entitled Tronic. From what I have heard so far, he has expanded his sound and added in more live instrumentation. Overall, dope shit
The singles:
Give The Drummer Sum
The Matrix (feat. DJ Premier, Pharoahe Monch, & Sean Price)
"You Couldn't hang if you were Ving Rhames in Rosewood." Cot dammmmmmmn!!!!! I lost my mind when Pharoahe said that shit.
As a bonus, here is Black in the studio working on "Give The Drummer Sum."

"Ball ridiculous, 26 Inches When I Call Up The Dealership/ Aw That's Some Nigga Shit."
Day I bought Untitled and first heard that line, I damn near wrecked my car because I was laughing so hard. Why? Because that line was so on point. To "authenticate my nigganess," do I have to spend my doe recklessly on that shit? Does it bring about the respect our people fight everyday? Among other "?uestions In The Shade Of Black," these questions are asked among our people everyday.
This is one of my favorite tracks from the album. The live drums on this (especially on the 8 bar outro) is extremely dope. The video filmed in some familiar spots to me... good ol' Crenshaw Blvd, as well as some shots from Downtown. Also pay EXTREMELY to meaning of the song too, Nas really goes in on this one (shit, he "went in" the whole album).

"I Got A Bad Bird Nickname is Sunshine..."
Q-Tip - Move's Hidden Meaning from Three/21 Films on Vimeo.
Q-Tip and Cons behind the scenes from the video for "Move." Another record of Tip's LONG AWAITED LP, The Renaissance. As you may or may not know, a couple of the joints off the album are revisted version from two unreleased LPs that Tip did. This is one of those joints. Why I am telling you this? I tellin you (like Jennifer Hudson) because YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS RECORD, seriously. I was sooo happy he going to put this shit on the album. This beat, Dilla yo.... you won't believe what he sampled if I told you.
I would post the joint here, but I'm not at my home computer right now. Go searchin for this shit, I guarantee it will be on repeat this whole weekend. Or.... just wait for The Renaissance to drop this November.

The Hour Of Reprisal
I recieved an e-mail about this dude's record about a week ago, and not had the time to read it. Than last night, while checking the LMU "TV Guide-like" channel to see what was on T.V, KXLU's (the campus radio station) resident Sunday night underground Hip-Hop show was playing in the background on the channel. When I heard the beat, I IMMEDIATELY knew it was a Preemo joint, but the shit had my head nodding in "shotgun repel action" for 4 minutes straight. It was the joint Preemo did for Ill Bill's upcoming album entitled The Hour Of Reprisal. Here's Preemo here talking about the making of the song, entitled "Society Is Brainwashed."
Sidenote- Did he just say that this joint was made for orginally made for Hov's American Gangster?!?!?!? Why Jay why? Lol!!!

Love Lockdown
I didn't catch much of the VMA's last night (second straight year I've missed it because of work), but I've read up and heard a lot about. Aside from hearing that a couple dancers from LMU would be performing with Rihanna (including my next door neighbor... shouts out to Sara Anne), this is what I wanted to see. I'm waiting to give my full verdict once I hear the studio version, but I have to say, Kanye just keeps taking it where other won't. Sonically, I'm expecting this next album to be on some 80s pop/soul/21th Century, "futuristic, George Jetson" (c) Craig Mack, Hip-Hop shit. What do ya'll think?

Now Mr. West has throwin' his name in the hat...
(From Hiphopdx.com)
After the tremendous success of Kanye West's Graduation, fans have been patiently waiting the arrival of his next brainchild. Well wait no more. Multiple blogs, including Nahright and respected DJ Semtex's official blog have begun reporting that Ye's next venture will be out before year's end. MTV UK has also reportedly received confirmation of the projects saying: "both Jay and Kanye are set to release new albums before the end of 2009. It's well known Jigga has been working on a new LP- likely to be called The Blueprint 3 - with another West produced track "Jockin' Jay Z" already leaked to the web. Kanye was not expected to release a new album in 2008 but the follow up to Graduation now seems likely to be with us in the near future!"
Kanye's next single will be called "Love LockDown" and his 4th LP is on track to hit stores in December. According to MTV UK (but not confirmed) "Love LockDown" will be available for download on Sept 8th.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww...... stay tuned. (I'm going to be MAD broke by the end of this quarter, lol!!!)
